
A State of Decay Vol. IV by Oral Health America (OHA) is a state-by-state report of the country’s 65+ population’s oral health and states’ success or failure to address those needs.
The 2018 State of Decay is the 4th in a series of reports from OHA surveying the state of oral health for older Americans. It was one of five strategies for OHA’s Wisdom Tooth Project®, a program designed to meet the oral health challenges of a burgeoning population of community-dwelling older adults, their family caregivers, and the health professionals who work to help them age healthily and independently.
In the report, you will find reliable information and data about the state performance based on measured variables like the percentage of tooth loss, dental visits, or the number of covered Medicaid services in each state.


You will also find an infographic with the score (from 0% to 100%) that every state has received based on those variables and the level of excellence they offer to their elderly population.
And, among other things, a comparison of the state rankings between the last State of Decay report (2016) and the last one (2018):
